Hi, I’m Zac — also known as Zaddy! I’m a Melbourne-based amigurumi designer, content creator, and the founder of Zaddycrafts, a yarn brand dedicated to high-quality yarns for makers.

Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Melbourne in 2022 to be closer to family. I first learned to crochet in 2018 after stumbling across a “stitch ’n’ bitch” club at my previous job. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a full-blown obsession with yarn and creating.

In 2020, I decided to create an Instagram account (@crochet.me.zaddy) as a way to share my creations and connect with the wider craft community. Since then, I’ve grown into a recognised figure in the online crochet space, known for my comedic content, engaging tutorials, and community-driven projects across TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, and YouTube.

In December 2024, I expanded my passion for yarn into business, launching Zaddycrafts. What started as a mission to find better yarn for the Down Under community (who was severely lacking in options) quickly grew into a brand focused on bringing high-quality, reliable yarns to the wider crochet community. At Zaddycrafts, we specialise in plush chenille yarns designed specifically for amigurumi - prioritising softness, durability, and consistency - while continuing to expand into new textures and styles to support makers of all kinds.

I’m also a published crochet author, with my debut book Itty Bitty Amigurumi - a collection of 50 quick, no-sew, pocket-sized patterns designed for beginners to amigurumi and for seasoned crocheters adding new skills to their toolboxes. The book focuses on simple, beginner-friendly designs that can be completed in one sitting, helping makers build confidence while creating something cute, fun, and satisfying from start to finish.
